What is Fine Art Boudoir (FAB) and what does it mean to me, right now...today, this very moment.
Well, I am glad you asked!
When I think "Boudoir," I think about something kinda dark and mysterious. Probably because it is a French word and I don't speak French. If I were to use it as an adjective for a person I would say for example, that the actor Eva Green is boudoir.
What do I mean? Well, fittingly enough she is French. She also is dark and mysterious with enormous flexibility and range. Boudoir has that same flexibility. It is an umbrella term that can encompass a number of different artistic styles.
I know what you're thinking, "well that is super but what does that mean for the way YOU work?" Good Question, you impatient reader you!
My mission is simple. I help people, regardless of their age, race, gender identity or sexual orientation feel beautiful and confident in their own skin so that they can have a positive and transformative experience that helps them live their lives at full volume.
Too many people limit themselves and have negative self-confidence and body image issues; especially women in our society. We are all held to an unreasonable and impossible standard of beauty that centers around consumerism. We are constantly told that we are not good enough so we should buy the next product to fill that void.
I think that is B.S. You can't buy self-confidence. It is not something sitting on a shelf somewhere, it is in your actions and what you do. Do you push yourself to do the thing that scares you so that you can grow and learn, or do you let it defeat you and stay the same?
Well, that is all great but what is this Fine Art Boudoir (FAB) thing REALLY all about you are probably asking.
It's about doing something different. It's about trying something new, scary and exciting that makes you feel alive, beautiful and free. You get to be original, you get to create something personal and uniquely you at that very moment in time. FAB sessions are these magical little moments where you get to show off a completely different side of your personality or something from your imagination that is unique to that moment and all your own.
You also get to experience what it is like to see yourself from somebody else's perspective. If you have ever said, "I wish I could see myself the way other people see me, for once." This is your opportunity to do that.
We all get so caught up in how we think we look and our own insecurities that we think that our insecurities are what everyone else notices about us. We forget that there is so much more going on and that we are a whole person with so much more to offer.
Fine Art Boudoir is also a wonderful opportunity to have a really fun conversation, while simultaneously being the star of a professional photo session and enjoying all the necessary pampering that comes with it.
The conversation is my second favorite part of the shoot experience. I don't stop talking during a shoot, I tell jokes and ask you about what's going on in your life. I am excited to be taking pictures and creating art with you, so I get pretty animated.
Most importantly for those who have never modeled before I coach and pose them into the most flattering positions that help tell the story of their session. I am there to keep things fun and be your coach and cheerleader so that we have a great time and create something amazing together.
That is what Fine Art Boudoir is all about. Creating amazing images that make you feel good about yourself and who you are, in a fun relaxing and safe environment.
Then you take those images and put them in a book or on your wall, larger than life as a reminder of that moment when you felt your best. So that when you need those feelings and that spirit, you can look to those images, remember that moment, gather that strength and confidence and face your obstacles head-on.
