The Autism Society of Minnesota hosted its Swing Fling at the Landmark Center in Saint Paul on December 5th, 2017. If you didn't make it you missed out on a fun night full of dancing, food, great live music and support for Minnesota's Autistic community.

I was fortunate enough to be able to volunteer my services and help sponsor the event.

I will be honest, I did not really know what expect out of the evening, I haven't had much exposure to the Twin Cities swing dance community and I had never even been to the Landmark Center before. But I am all for helping support a good cause so I was happy to volunteer and help.

I was in awe as soon as I walked in the door. The Landmark Center is a beautiful building of Richardsonian Romanesque architecture and was completed in 1902. Every inch of the place is gorgeous and I was happy to gawk at the spectacle of it all. They just don't build things with that kind of character and grace anymore so I was, of course, overjoyed to just wander around and read the historical facts on the walls.

The fantastic dance competition and demonstrations by TC Swing and the University of Minnesota Ballroom Dance Club were fueled by the sounds of Patty and the Buttons a traditional jazz band based out of Minneapolis. The combination of jazz and swing dance in a building that had survived through the era was amazing. If you have the chance to see any of them in person you should.

I am so happy I was able to help support such a passionate group of people with a good cause.
